spice jar artifacts


The most prevalent type of artifacts recovered from the Monitor is whale-oil lamp chimneys. These glass tubes--remarkably, one was intact--were recovered in April during Phase I of the Monitor 2001 expeditions. (Monitor Collection, NOAA)
