NASA scientists deployed a prototype Passive Acoustic Monitoring System (PAMS) at Jack's Reef on Oculina Banks for 48 hrs during the mission to test its ability to capture sounds of reef fish as well as boat traffic in the Oculina Research Reserve. They hope to return early in 2002 to deploy the device during grouper spawning season.
