Shortly after the ROV has landed on the deck and the Jason group has secured and checked over the vehicle, organized chaos ensures. Members of the science party descend on the ROV to retrieve the precious samples that they’ve been patiently waiting for. In this video, two scientists prepare to remove the tubeworm community sample from the Bushmaster Jr. collection device. After a quick look at the samples on deck, they are quickly hustled into the most appropriate lab where sample processing continues. Specimens in this collection of stained tubeworms will be analyzed to help answer a number of different questions. Video courtesy of Expedition to the Deep Slope 2007, NOAA-OE.
