NOAA Ocean Explorer: Benthic bioluminescence in the bamboo coral

Benthic bioluminescence in the bamboo coral, Keratoisis flexibilis. When you rub up against this coral it releases astonishing amounts of slime and lights up like a Christmas tree. The purpose of its bioluminescence is unknown.
