Highly poisonous berried anemone, Alicia mirabilis

Collected on ROV dive 42 at Diaphus Bank, the rare and highly poisonous berried anemone, Alicia mirabilis, is the only anemone in the Caribbean-Atlantic region whose sting is toxic to all animals. The body of the berried anemone can be contracted as shown here, or can extend over 12 inches off the seafloor. Image courtesy of FGBNMS, NOAA.
