The Seabird 39 temperature and depth recorder

The Seabird 39 is a temperature and depth recorder. To help researchers know precisely how deep a net is in the water, the Seabird 39 is attached to the top of the Tucker trawl. This device measures the temperature and pressure of the water every 5 seconds while the net is fishing. From this, the depth can be calculated to determine exactly where the fish were collected in the water column.
