Video recordings from under-ice dives provide unique information about the structure of the pack ice and the associated fauna. This video sequence was recorded on August 26, 2002. During that dive, we discovered that the Arctic Cod (Boreogadus saida) uses narrow horizontal gaps in the top layers of ice floes as habitat for resting, probably to avoid predation by ringed seals.
