The NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration and Research (OER) ensures public access to the diverse collection of scientific data collected during OER-supported ocean expeditions. Data collections typically include oceanographic and geophysical parameters, video, images, documents, and other information, provided in a range of data formats.
Data collection methods and processing steps are fully documented and published for easy data discovery and access and to ensure long-term data stewardship. Information collected aboard NOAA’s exploration flagship vessel, the Okeanos Explorer is publicly available within 60-90 days after the end of a mission. Timelines for data release from other types of OER-sponsored expeditions will vary to meet the needs of exploration partners.
